Image Rotator / Flipper

Rotate static images by 90°, 180° or 270°, mirror them horizontally or vertically, and preview every change. Export PNG, JPEG or WebP locally without uploading your image.

Static PNG, JPEG or WebP · up to 20 MiB, 16 megapixels and 8,192 px per side

No image selected.

Mirrors apply after rotation, along the preview’s horizontal and vertical axes.
Applies to JPEG and WebP. PNG ignores this setting.
LIVE TRANSFORM PREVIEW

Choose an image to preview its rotation and mirrors.

Ready. Choose an image to begin.

The preview shows geometry and transparency before export compression. Quarter turns preserve pixel dimensions, swapping width and height for 90° and 270°. Export creates a new image; original metadata is not preserved and lossy quality can change appearance.

Need smaller dimensions? Use Image Resizer first.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use Image Rotator / Flipper

  1. Choose or drop one static PNG, JPEG or WebP image. The browser reads its orientation locally.
  2. Select a clockwise rotation, or use Rotate left and Rotate right. Add horizontal or vertical mirrors if needed.
  3. Review the live preview and output dimensions. Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP, with lossy quality or a JPEG background when applicable.
  4. Select Export image, then Download image. Changing settings clears the previous download until you export again.

Why use this tool?

Your image is never uploaded to any server; rotation, mirroring and export happen locally in your browser. No account or image history is needed. The same consistent transformation is used for the preview and full-resolution export, with the actual output format checked before download.

Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.

A few things worth knowing

How do rotation and mirroring combine?

The tool rotates clockwise first, then applies mirrors along the displayed image’s horizontal and vertical axes. Horizontal mirror exchanges left and right; vertical mirror exchanges top and bottom. Rotate left adds a 90° counterclockwise turn. Reset transforms restores zero rotation and no mirrors.

Will the image be cropped or resized?

No. Quarter turns map the image to the same pixel grid without arbitrary-angle interpolation or cropping. Width and height swap for 90° and 270°. Only the preview is scaled to your screen; export uses full dimensions. Arbitrary angles are not supported in this version.

What formats and sizes can I use?

Static PNG, JPEG and WebP, up to 20 MiB, 16 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Larger dimensions require Image Resizer first. SVG, GIF, AVIF, HEIC and detected animated PNG/WebP are not supported. The browser must be able to decode and encode the selected formats.

What happens to transparency and quality?

PNG and WebP retain transparency where the browser supports it. JPEG replaces transparent pixels with your chosen background color, white by default. Quality applies to JPEG and WebP; PNG ignores it. The live preview shows transformed pixels before export compression, so a lossy download can look different.

Does export preserve the original encoded file or metadata?

No. Canvas exports a new image, even with zero rotation and no mirrors. Original metadata and encoded bytes are not retained, browser orientation is applied, and exact color-profile behavior is not guaranteed. PNG does not restore detail already lost in a JPEG.

What happens if I edit settings while exporting?

Settings changes, new files and Clear invalidate pending exports and remove previous downloads. Late results are discarded. Encoding has a 15-second response limit. Clear and leaving the page release application-held image bitmaps, previews and object URLs.
