Image Resizer

Resize a PNG, JPEG or WebP image by dimensions or percentage. Keep its aspect ratio, preview the result and download a new image without uploading your file.

Static PNG, JPEG or WebP · up to 20 MiB and 40 megapixels

JPEG fills transparent pixels with this color. PNG and WebP keep transparency.

Output: up to 8,192 pixels per side and 16 megapixels. Aspect ratios round to the nearest pixel. Unlocking the ratio can stretch the image.

Ready. Choose a static image to begin.

Previews fit the screen; the download uses your selected pixel dimensions. Canvas export creates a new image and does not preserve the original metadata. Enlarging an image cannot restore missing detail.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use Image Resizer

  1. Choose or drop one static PNG, JPEG or WebP image. Its dimensions and a small original preview appear locally.
  2. Enter a width or height with aspect ratio locked, or switch to percentage mode. Unlock the ratio only if you want stretching.
  3. Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP output. Set lossy quality or a JPEG transparency background as needed, then select Resize image.
  4. Review the output dimensions and preview, then download. Changing any setting clears the previous download.

Why use this tool?

Your image is never uploaded to any server; decoding, resizing and export happen locally in your browser. No account or image history is needed. File content and pixel limits keep the tool bounded, while the export format is checked before a download is offered.

Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.

A few things worth knowing

Which images are supported?

Static PNG, JPEG and WebP files are supported. SVG, GIF, AVIF, HEIC and detected animated PNG/WebP are not supported. The tool checks file signatures and header dimensions before asking the browser to decode the image, then checks decoded dimensions too. A valid-looking header does not guarantee a file is decodable.

What are the file and pixel limits?

Input is limited to 20 MiB (20,971,520 bytes), 16,384 pixels per side and 40 megapixels. Output is limited to 8,192 pixels per side and 16 megapixels. If the original exceeds output limits, initial pixel dimensions are reduced to fit. Device memory can impose a lower practical limit; try a smaller image if decoding or export fails.

How do dimensions and percentages work?

With the ratio locked, editing width recalculates height and editing height recalculates width from the original image. Pixel rounding may slightly alter the exact ratio. Percentage mode scales both original dimensions and accepts 0.01–1,000% with up to two decimal places, within output limits; very small dimensions round to at least one pixel. Unlocking dimensions can stretch the image. Upscaling does not restore missing detail.

What happens to transparency and image quality?

PNG and WebP outputs keep transparency where supported. JPEG fills transparent areas with the chosen background color, white by default. The quality control affects JPEG and WebP only; it is not a promised file size or universal quality scale. Browsers choose the encoder and interpolation details. If the requested format is unsupported, the tool reports an error instead of silently downloading another format.

Are orientation, metadata and color profiles preserved?

The browser decodes the image using its from-image orientation behavior, so the displayed dimensions reflect the decoded orientation. Canvas export creates a new raster image and does not preserve original metadata or guarantee the same color profile, precision or encoded bytes. Check important images visually. The preview is scaled to fit; downloads use the reported output dimensions.

Are files or settings saved?

No image history or files are uploaded or stored by the application. Processing uses in-memory image data and local object URLs, which are released when replaced, cleared or the page is left. Downloads save only when you select Download image. Export has a 15-second response limit; editing settings discards any pending result.
