Trace a selected PDF page into closed DXF outlines. Choose a page from local thumbnails, crop, adjust threshold and cleanup, then inspect the processed mask and generated DXF. Raster tracing, not CAD reconstruction.

Tracing settings
Removes foreground components smaller than this size, using 4-neighbor connectivity. It does not fill holes or join gaps.
The page is first rasterized at up to 2048 px per side. Large crops are downsampled; small crops are not enlarged. Changing resolution also changes noise-removal and simplification effects.
Crop (% of selected page)
DXF size
PDF page points use 72 per inch. Default 25.4/72 gives the nominal printed page size in millimetres. This does not recover the original CAD drawing scale. Explicit scale is independent of rendering/tracing resolution.
The label sets the unit header; it does not change the numeric scale. Origin is the cropped page's lower-left corner; CAD Y points up.

Converted DXF preview
The traced DXF outlines will appear here.
No DXF generated.
The preview reparses the actual DXF. Thick lines produce two boundaries, not a single centerline. Holes become separate closed polylines. Anti-aliasing, threshold, downsampling and simplification can change dimensions and topology.
Trace report
Output: AC1015 ASCII DXF, closed LWPOLYLINE outlines on layer 0. PDF pages render on white before tracing. No OCR, centerline extraction, CAD layer/dimension recovery, original CAD scale recovery, background understanding, path repair or cutter compensation. Complex/noisy images may exceed bounded tracing limits. Use clean artwork, inspect holes/gaps/duplicate edges and verify scale in CAD/CAM before any fabrication. Keep the source PDF.
A FEW SIMPLE STEPS
How to use Scanned PDF to DXF
Choose one unencrypted PDF, or load the example. Select a page using its thumbnail, page number or previous/next controls.
Crop the page and adjust threshold, inversion, noise removal, simplification and tracing resolution. Compare the page crop with the processed mask.
Set DXF units per displayed PDF page point. Inspect the actual generated DXF and extent report, download and verify in CAD/CAM.

Why use this tool?
Your PDF is never uploaded to any server; PDF rendering, outline tracing, DXF creation and previews run locally in your browser. Actual page previews and clear scale/trace reports help you inspect the result before saving.
Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.
A few things worth knowing
Does this recover original CAD geometry?
No. The selected PDF page is rasterized and its foreground boundaries are traced. This also works on vector PDFs, but it does not extract their vector paths. Thick lines produce multiple boundaries, text becomes traced outlines, and original layers, dimensions and drawing scale are not recovered.
How is scale determined?
The explicit scale is DXF units per displayed PDF page point, with 72 points per inch. The default 25.4/72 approximates nominal printed page size in millimetres. It is not a recovery of the original CAD drawing scale. Rotation and the displayed page box are applied; the crop lower-left is the output origin. The unit label alone does not rescale coordinates.
Which PDF content is included?
Only the selected page is rendered, with page rotation and its displayed box applied. Annotations/forms are excluded. Links, scripts and attachments are not opened. Password-protected PDFs are unsupported; use an unencrypted document.
What are the limits?
One PDF up to 50 MiB and 2,000 pages; displayed page sides at most 16,384 points. Rasterization is capped at 2048 px per side and 4 megapixels. Shared tracing limits are 200,000 boundary edges, 100,000 output vertices and 10,000 outlines. Complex documents may require a simpler source or lower tracing resolution.
Is the DXF ready for fabrication?
Inspect it in CAD/CAM first. Thresholding, downsampling and simplification can change dimensions, holes and topology. There is no centerline extraction, gap repair, duplicate-edge cleanup or cutter compensation. Keep the original PDF.
