YOUR RESULT

Ready. Enter text to find and a replacement.

Matches do not overlap. Whole-word matching checks for Unicode letters, marks, numbers and underscores beside each match. Markup is always plain text.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use Find and Replace

  1. Paste original text, then enter the literal text to find and its replacement. Leave replacement empty to delete matches.
  2. Choose first or all matches, case matching and optional whole-word boundaries.
  3. Select Replace text. Review matching occurrences, replacements made and the resulting text.
  4. Copy or download the result as TXT. Editing input or options clears the old result.

Why use this tool?

Matching and replacement happen entirely in your browser without uploads, accounts, dependencies or input storage. Your original text stays available for comparison, and neither markup nor replacement symbols are executed.

Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.

A few things worth knowing

Are regular expressions supported?

This tool searches literal text. Characters such as ., *, brackets and parentheses are matched as written. Replacement symbols such as $&, $1 and backslashes are inserted literally. Use the separate Regex Replace tool for patterns and capture groups.

How does whole-word matching work?

A match is accepted only when the character on each side is absent or is not a Unicode letter, combining mark, number or underscore. Apostrophes and hyphens are treated as boundaries. This is a boundary rule rather than language-specific word segmentation.

How are case and overlapping matches handled?

Case matching is on by default. Turning it off uses JavaScript Unicode case-insensitive matching, not locale-specific or full multi-letter case folding. Matches are non-overlapping, and replacement text is not searched again. First-only mode still counts all matching occurrences.

Can I replace spaces, line breaks or delete text?

Yes. Find can contain literal spaces or line breaks. An empty replacement deletes matches, while an empty Find value is rejected. CRLF and CR line endings normalize to LF, matching the browser textareas.

What are the limits?

Input accepts 200,000 UTF-16 text units, Find 2,000 and replacement 20,000. Output is limited to 1,000,000 units to prevent runaway expansion. Inputs are never truncated; exceeding a limit gives no partial result.

Does it modify my original or save a history?

No. The original stays in the editor, and your inputs are not saved in browser storage or uploaded. Clear empties the text fields but keeps the selected options. Empty output has no download.
