Explicit units. Clear assumptions. Local conversion · no uploads
Latitude first. Decimal degrees, or DDD:MM:SS for DMS. Within ±90°.
Longitude second. Decimal degrees, or DDD:MM:SS for DMS. Within ±180°.
Seconds round half up; minute and degree carry is normalized.
Display rounding only. Exact calculated values remain in the details.

Use either signed input or an explicit hemisphere. With N/S/E/W selected, enter unsigned numbers. Latitude comes before longitude. This converts notation, not a map projection or datum.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use Decimal / DMS Coordinate Converter

  1. Choose decimal-degree or DMS input notation. Enter latitude first and longitude second.
  2. Use Signed input with minus for south/west, or select a hemisphere and enter unsigned values. DMS input uses DDD:MM:SS.
  3. Adjust decimal places for DMS seconds and significant digits for decimal display. Check coordinate bounds and the exact values.
  4. Copy the result or download a TXT report. Clear releases the main entered value and result; category shortcuts open other converters.

Why use this tool?

All calculations run locally in your browser. Your values are never uploaded and no input history is saved. Explicit units and assumptions make the result easier to check. No account or remote processing is needed.

Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.

A few things worth knowing

What DMS format is accepted?

Use DDD:MM:SS with minutes and seconds 00–59, optionally fractional seconds. Example: 40:26:46. A leading minus is accepted only in Signed input mode. Degree/prime symbols and inline compass letters are not parsed.

Does this convert WGS84 to another coordinate system?

No. It changes notation only. It does not transform datums, project coordinates or identify a location.

What happens at the poles and antimeridian?

Latitude must be within ±90 degrees and longitude within ±180. Nonzero minutes/seconds beyond those bounds reject. Zero normalizes to north/east in DMS output.

Are locations uploaded or shown on a map?

No. Coordinates are processed locally without geolocation permission, map APIs, network requests or saved history.

Are my values uploaded or saved?

No. Calculations stay in this browser page and inputs are not persisted. Only the theme preference is saved. Copy and report download happen only when you choose.
