2–8 stops. Type #RRGGBB or use the color picker. Positions must ascend; equal positions make hard edges. The repeat interval runs from the first to last stop. Transparency uses the background beneath the gradient.

LIVE GRADIENT

Preparing a local preview…

Linear 0° points up, 90° right. Conic positions are percentages of a full turn; its angle is the starting rotation. Radial gradients use farthest-corner sizing. Preview colors can vary by browser/display; no contrast compliance is implied.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use CSS Gradient Generator

  1. Choose linear, radial or conic gradient. Adjust angle, center and radial shape where relevant.
  2. Edit hex colors, positions and opacity with color pickers, sliders or exact inputs. Add up to eight stops.
  3. Keep positions ascending or choose Sort stops. Enable repeating for a pattern; equal adjacent stop positions create hard edges.
  4. Review the live preview, then copy the CSS declaration or download a .css file. Reset restores the initial gradient.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Why use this tool?

All gradient editing and rendering happens locally. No account, upload or external API is needed. The preview uses the generated CSS directly, so you can inspect the declaration before copying it.

Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.

A few things worth knowing

Which gradient types are supported?

Linear, radial and conic gradients, including their repeating variants. Linear angles use CSS degrees: 0 points up and 90 right. Radial gradients use circle/ellipse farthest-corner sizing. Conic positions are fractions of a full turn.

How do color stops and transparency work?

Use 2–8 hex RGB colors with positions and opacity from 0–100%. Equal adjacent positions create hard edges. Stops must be in ascending order; Sort stops reorders them explicitly. Opacity is output as rgba color values.

Why is there a checkerboard?

It lets you see transparency. The checkerboard is preview-only and is not included in exported CSS. Your page’s own background will show through transparent areas.

Can I repeat a gradient?

Yes. Enable Repeating gradient. Its pattern interval is the distance from the first stop to the last; make that span smaller than 100% to see repeats within the preview. A zero-length repeating interval is rejected.

Is the preview an image download?

No. This tool exports a CSS background-image declaration, or a .css file containing a .gradient rule. The gradient adapts to its element’s size. Display and browser rendering can differ; contrast accessibility needs a separate check.
